A note from Celyn Kendrick: At the YMCA, while we are floating or splashing around, disconnected from our life online, I'm jokingly referred to as the Internet, Wikipedia, or simply the Font of Useless Information. The Green Hills Series reflects this well of information with layers upon layers of depth.
Most readers will likely just read the series as a twisted take on a low-fantasy fairytale and patiently wait for it to unfold. But for those whom it really reaches—it will hopefully spur a curiosity and desire to learn more about a variety of subjects.
My aim is to make the writing easily accessible by a wide variety of readers—so certainly all the supplemental knowledge in this wiki is not required to enjoy the series (and don't be daunted by it!) as my priority when writing it was for each book to be stand-alone without diagrams, character sheets or all sorts of superfluous bits and bobs that "aren't literature." But for those whom such geekery appeals to, I'll do my best to put it here.
My promise to you is that you will never read anything else quite like this series. That being said, it's difficult to categorise. It is literature at its core, but it has popular elements that should appeal to most readers and a bit of everything—humour, romance, adventure, mystery, spirituality, agriculture, culture, anthropology, history, art, music, philosophy... anything kicking around in the vacuum of my head. 😜
Many readers (if I'm successful) will be left chomping at the bit for more of everything. This is definitely a series for thinkers, travellers, lifelong-learners, and people with a curious nature and bawdy sense of humour. Hopefully this wiki will help readers learn more about the rich tapestry that is The Green Hills Series.
